Why Captain Tasks

Shopify work gets messy when it lives in chat and spreadsheets.

A customer helpdesk is built for customer questions. A project tool is often more than a store team needs. Captain Tasks gives your team a simple place for the day to day work behind the store.

01

Links get lost

An order number lands in chat. A product link goes into a spreadsheet. Soon nobody can find the original request.

02

No one owns the task

Everyone sees the request, but nobody knows who should handle it or when it needs to be done.

03

Nobody sees the full picture

Updates end up in different tools. The team cannot see what is open, being reviewed, or already finished.

What you get

Everything your team needs to stay on top of store work.

Add the task, link the Shopify record, and decide who takes care of it. That’s it.

Keep the Shopify link with the task

Start from a product, variant, order, or collection, or select a page inside the ticket. Keep the links together so nobody has to hunt for the right record later.

Use a board for each kind of work

Keep store operations, content, merchandising, and temporary projects separate, with the right priorities on each board.

Everyone knows who is doing what

Assign each task to a Shopify staff member, add a priority, and set a due date.

Keep the conversation in one place

Add updates as comments. The activity log shows what changed and when.

Find the task you need

Search the details or filter a board by tag, assignee, or priority.

Put finished work away

Archive completed tasks to keep the board tidy. You can restore them later with their files, links, comments, and history.

Connected to Shopify

Start with the Shopify resource.

Create a task while looking at a product, variant, order, or collection in Shopify Admin. The link is added automatically, so anyone who picks it up can get back to the right record.

  • Open a task with the right Shopify resource already linked
  • Pick a board, assignee, priority, and due date
  • Return to the Shopify record with one click
How it works

Add it, assign it, move it, done.

There’s not much to learn. The board follows the way most store teams already work.

  1. 1

    Add the task

Create it from a board or while looking at a product, variant, order, or collection in Shopify.

  2. 2

    Assign it

Choose an assignee, priority, and due date. Keep any updates in the comments.

  3. 3

    Track progress

Move the task from Backlog to Open, In progress, Review, and Done.

  4. 4

    Archive it

Put finished tasks away without losing their files, links, comments, or history.

Questions and answers

Good to know before you start.

What is Captain Tasks?

Captain Tasks is a task management app for Shopify teams. It gives your staff a shared board for the everyday work behind the store.

Is Captain Tasks a customer support helpdesk?

No. Captain Tasks is for work between your staff, such as product updates, order follow ups, content changes, and store operations. Customers cannot create or view tasks.

Can tickets link to Shopify products, variants, orders, collections, and pages?

Yes. Create a task from a product, variant, order, or collection in Shopify Admin. For pages, search and select a page inside the ticket. Each link returns to its Shopify record.

Do team members need another account?

No. Your team uses its existing Shopify staff accounts. A staff member joins the app automatically the first time they open it.

Does the app change my storefront?

No. Captain Tasks runs inside Shopify Admin. It does not add scripts to your storefront or change your theme, products, or orders.

What can I add to a ticket?

A task can have a title, description, board, status, priority, assignee, tags, due date, comments, and private file attachments up to 5 MB per file.

Is work shared between different Shopify stores?

No. Each store has its own boards, tasks, team members, comments, and attachments.

How much does Captain Tasks cost?

Captain Tasks includes a 14-day free trial. After the trial, the Unlimited plan costs $12.99 USD per month or $129 USD per year. There is no permanent free plan and no per-seat fee.
